TMF-ers,
We wanted to share news of meaningful progress on travel to TMF following a positive meeting with CalMac.
We’re working closely to address the booking challenges that some of you have faced, ensuring the best possible journey experience for everyone in the future. While there are some constraints we need to navigate for 2025, we have already agreed on a more streamlined approach for 2026. We appreciate your patience while we finalise the details for 2025.
Attendees who have already reached out via email will receive updates very shortly. We’ll provide a full, further update in the coming weeks on individual bookings. We are a small team working as hard as we can on this so please hang in there while both parties do all we can to find solutions.
In the meantime, we’d love to highlight a few things to help make the journey smoother for everyone—including fellow festival-goers, islanders and essential services that rely on this ferry route year-round.
Travel Light & Smart – Tiree is a small island with just 650 residents, and space on the ferry is precious. TMF triples the population each summer so we must be mindful of the impact we have on this special island.
Our festival ethos is leave only footprints. Please avoid bringing a vehicle unless absolutely necessary. We have limited onsite carparking and want to encourage travel which minimises the festival’s environmental impact and ensures Tiree remains as pristine as possible.
We also have bus and luggage transport services to take you and your bags between the ferry terminal and the festival site.
Pack Considerately – We know TMF means packing for all weather, but for safety reasons, all luggage must be contained, secured and easy to manoeuvre. If you’re bringing a trolley, please be mindful of its size, how you use the space, and the total weight of your bags. We will have more info on recommended luggage and other items very soon.
Last year, many items exceeded 30kg, making handling tough for the CalMac and TMF teams — we appreciate everyone’s help in working together to ensure the best use of the ferry and maximising space for everyone.
Our festival is a true island adventure and we can’t wait to welcome you to TMF25. We appreciate your support in making this a smooth and unforgettable experience and will continue to keep you updated as we work away on plans and resolutions.
Best,
Team TMF
