Tiree Music Festival CIC – Fair Work First Policy
Tiree Music Festival CIC is committed to working to the Scottish Government’s Fair Work First policy. This policy, which balances the rights and responsibilities of employers and workers, provides an opportunity to generate benefits for employees, Tiree Music Festival CIC and the wider community has been developed in consultation with the TMF workforce.
Particular emphasis is placed upon the five dimensions of Fair Work as set out by the Fair Work Convention and how these are applied by the Tiree Music Festival.
- Security: Providing security of employment by providing staff with contracts (even for short term contracts), confirmed work and hours and income, by paying a minimum of the Real Living Wage and industry standard rates. TMF believes in fair pay for everyone engaged in the festival and adheres to Musicians Union rates for musicians and bands performing. Contracted staff wages are set in negotiation with the individual contractor, based on the role and hours required for the role and BECTU rates are used as a guide for these negotiations.
- Respect: Respecting all workers and recognising their standing and personal worth. All staff will have an induction and training where applicable to the event and be informed of all information about their role ahead of the start of their first shift. Tiree Music Festival wants all team members to feel integral and important to the event regardless of their role.
- Effective Voice: Providing a safe environment where workers’ views are sought out, listened to, and can make a difference. Employees are encouraged to reach out to their managers if they have any issues or problems and online reporting forms are used for reporting any concerns to senior management.
- Opportunity: Promoting access to work and opportunities for workers to progress within employment. Whilst these opportunities are rare within the Tiree Music Festival team we will always look at offering promotion to existing team members before further advertising.
