Exclusively to TMF Cal Mac are now providing a pre-book ‘foot passenger’ ticket which can be purchased now to guarantee your space on the ferry. This is strongly advised due to the high volume of passengers travelling to and from the festival. Key points for pre-booking your ticket:

·        You can only purchase foot passengers tickets by phoning Oban.  Call 01631 566688 and ask to be transferred to the Oban office to purchase passenger tickets for the Tiree Music Festival. Tickets cannot be bought online.

·        You will be requested to provide the following information: name, address, phone number and your TMF ticket reference number which will be found on your ticket.  It is extremely important that you confirm what day you will be travelling to Tiree and returning to Oban.  If for any reason you would like to change the days after booking  then this will have to be brought to Cal Mac’s attention as you will only be able to travel on the specified sailing. There will be an admin charge of £10 applied if you do not show for the ticket. All tickets will be held securely and will be available for collection at the point of travel on production of your Cal Mac reservation number.

·        Passenger tickets for this service are only available to those attending the Tiree Music Festival. Once passenger capacity has been reached on certain sailings you may be offered an alternative date/time.

·        Tickets can be bought for Monday 15^th – Monday 22^nd of July.

ADDITIONAL SAILINGS:

We are pleased to confirm that there will be special additional ferry sailings to and from Tiree this year for the festival.

Oban to Tiree: Wednesday 17th July

The direct sailing (no service to Coll) will depart Oban on Wednesday July 17^th  at 2.30pm (latest check-in 13:45) to arrive at Tiree approx 18:05 and depart Tiree at 18:20 to arrive back in Oban 21:50

Tiree to Oban: Monday 22nd July

As with previous festivals there will 2 ferries departing Tiree on the Monday 22^nd July to accommodate the large volume of passengers from the festival. The scheduled sailing at 12noon and the Barra sailing will stop off at Tiree on route to Oban at approx 11.30.  Please note if you are intending to catch the Oban – Castlebay sailing then you will have to catch the 11.30 Tiree sailing as it will be the same ferry travelling to Barra.

If driving to Oban in a vehicle, there are various parking locations in Oban to leave your car for the weekend while attending the festival. Please plan in advance as many parking spots are a 5-10min walk to the ferry terminal.

TMF 2013 LINE UP ANNOUNCED

Taking place on the Island Of Tiree, nicknamed ‘The Hawaii Of The North’ due to its beautiful beaches and picturesque surroundings, the festival offers a unique experience that is about much more than just the music. It attracts audiences from all over the UK and Europe to enjoy a weekend of great bands alongside the added fun of camping next to the white sands of Crossapol Bay, taking on the world famous surf at Balevullin beach, enjoying watersports, biking and the many galleries that the Island has to offer.

Says the festival’s Artistic Director Daniel Gillespie; “After performing at festivals worldwide with Skerryvore I kept thinking how amazing it would to have a festival on my home island of Tiree, that would give something back to the locals and also attract new visitors. Fast forward four years and we are now approaching the 4th TMF having achieved three successive sell-outs and the accolade of being awarded Scotland’s Best Small Festival – it really is a dream come true. TMF 2013 will be our biggest festival to date and will once again showcase Tiree as one of the most stunning locations in the world.”

As part of their 30^th year celebrations, this year’s headliners will be Scottish folk icons, Capercaillie.  Founded by Donald Shaw and fronted by Karen Matheson, they have developed a reputation as Scotland’s foremost Celtic Band, selling over a million albums and touring in 25 countries.  Described as “the most exciting and vibrant band in the field of Celtic music today” (Billboard), their exciting and vibrant live show will make sure the festival finish will be one to remember.

Roddy Hart & The Lonesome Fire are set to make their mark this year with the release of their long awaited eponymous album and they will also join the bill alongside Tiree natives and multi-award winning folk-rock band Skerryvore, who will no doubt get the 1500 strong crowd dancing. Mànran, have recently rocketed to the top of the Scottish music scene with their powerful combination of Gaelic/English songs, making them an exciting addition to the TMF bill.

Fresh from SXSW, Electric Folk band Washington Irving, who recently supported Frightened Rabbit across the UK, will also be making an appearance, as will indie fiddle act Blazin’ Fiddles, and one of the most celebrated and successful Scottish folk bands of recent times Breabach, who were named ‘Best Group’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2011.

Other acts performing across the weekend includes English folk rock group Coast, Brown Bear & the Bandits whose folk guitar licks, celtic airs and pop hooks with meaningful lyrics, have seen them support Pete Docherty and play to a sold out King Tuts.

Tiree’s top ceilidh bands Skipinnish and Gunna Sound will raise the roof on the ceilidh stage and have the whole TMF audience dancing, while Trail West will present their exciting twist on the traditional ‘west coast’ ceilidh band style.

Joining the line-up are the Scott Wood Trio, Culann, Lori McTear, The Youth & Young, Room 16, Na hEileanaich, with more acts to be announced.

The Community Village, which is located right beside the festival site and campsite, will once again be a hive of entertainment, activities and music workshops as well as housing all the delicious locally sourced festival food and trade stalls.  The brand new Family Campsite will offer a quieter area for those who want to bring their whole brood and will have access to showers.

Getting to the gorgeous island is easy with Flybe flying directly from Glasgow, or you can enjoy the train to Oban and then catch one of the regular Caledonian MacBrayne ferries.

Special discounted early bird tickets for TMF2013 will go on sale on Monday 17th Dec at 9am. Once again the early bird tickets will offer festival goers a chance to guarantee their ticket for TMF2013 at a discounted price. With the Ticketscript system, tickets will be emailed directly on completion of order so will be there in time for Santa preparing his xmas deliveries!

Just months after being awarded Scotland’s Best Small Festival, Tiree Music Festival (TMF) has been nominated for two further accolades. The event located on the tiny island dubbed ‘The Hawaii of the North’ finds itself amongst the goliaths of the UK festival scene as a nominee at the prestigious UK Festival Awards while also nominated closer to home in the shortlist for Community Event of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards.  The nominations are another landmark in what has been a meteoric rise for the festival formed only three years ago by locals Daniel Gillespie and Stewart MacLennan.

Stewart spoke of the pride at being amongst the elite of UK festivals such as T in the Park and V Festival.  “If we are being realistic, we stand little chance of winning an award at the UK Festival Awards due the size and volume of votes the bigger festivals can generate. Regardless, it is just a fantastic achievement for our small festival to be amongst some of the biggest events in the UK.”

Daniel, already an STMA award winner with his band Skerryvore, is especially pleased with the Community Award nomination. “The STMA Awards may not have the profile of the UK Awards however it is a very special event and generates fantastic promotion for Scotland’s music, culture and creative industries. We are absolutely thrilled to be nominated for the Community Event of the Year as essentially the community is the heartbeat of TMF. They have embraced the event from the very beginning and helped create the setting and atmosphere that have enabled us to achieve the success so far. Hopefully the island and region can rally behind us once again to bring another award home to Tiree.”

THIRD SUCCESSIVE SELL OUT FOR TMF

Tiree Music Festival (TMF) has today announced that it has achieved it’s third successive sell out festival. Held on the remote Island of Tiree, most westerly of Scotland’s Inner Hebrides, TMF has rapidly grown in size and reputation as one of Scotland’s most unique and exciting festivals with live music at its heart – not one specific genre of music but everything from traditional to contemporary, established chart acts to breakthrough bands. Triple platinum selling band Toploader headline an outstanding bill of must see acts that will perform to a record crowd of 1250 people on Tiree on the 21st & 22nd of July. Added to this is for 2012 is the new TMF Community Village which aims to showcase local talent and organisations as well has hosting the festival campers on a stunning location looking over Crossapol Bay.
